July's Moon!


The July Moon goes by many names. The Farmer's Almanac Website , lists quite a few of the possible origins of this month's moon many cognomens.

Buck Moon: July is normally the month when the new antlers of buck deer push out of their foreheads in coatings of velvety fur. It was also often called the Full Thunder Moon, for the reason that thunderstorms are most frequent during this time. Another name for this month's Moon was the Full Hay Moon.

The times of the 4 quarters of the moon are shown below and were found on the USNO Website:

For July 2008:
The new moon will be on the 2 nd at 7:20P EST
The first quarter will be on the 9 th at 9:36P EST
The full moon will be on the 18th at 1:00A EST
The last quarter will be on the 25 th at 1:43P EST
